As part of the SASTA 2025 technical programme, Fives FCB will deliver a presentation focused on one of the most pressing challenges facing the southern African sugar industry: reducing energy consumption while preserving bagasse for renewable energy generation.
With the growing demand for electricity from renewable biomass, sugar producers are increasingly looking to optimize their operations to maximize electricity exports to the grid and minimize their carbon footprint. Achieving this requires a significant reduction in internal energy use—both steam and electricity—without compromising production efficiency.
