Let's embark together to the Vendée Globe 2024
Fives, an worldwide French engineering group, and the Lantana Environnement association stimulating pollination, are joining Louis Duc into his Vendée Globe adventure. Norman skipper's IMOCA, a 2006 Farr yacht, has been given a 2nd life the past year through a double project of optimization and recycling this winter. It was put into waters on May 4th in Caen, equipped with a new rigging, tilted centerboard... and new colors. Those of Fives - Lantana Environment.
After a 2021 season essentially dedicated to the IMOCA repairing and recycling projects (financed through crowdlending) and a wonderful transatlantic with Marie Tabarly, Louis Duc can now fully set himself on the right tack for the Vendée Globe 2024. His next challenge is made possible thanks to the main partners Fives Group and the Lantana Environnement association, but also Best Energies and partnership club "Votre entreprise autour du monde".
Who is Louis Duc, and a long-lasting partnership founded on common ambitions and values
Louis Duc has been a professional skipper for about 15 years. This self-made sailor always succeeded to do lots with bits and bobs.
In late 2020, Louis buys a wrecked IMOCA and gives it a second life. Everything that could be recycled has been salvaged and reused in this rehabilitation undertaking.
2021 is a success! The boat is launched at the end of August and with the solid help of Marie Tabarly, they take the Transat Jacques Vabre challenge, a first for both of them on this mythical Vendée Globe tour.
New colors, new rigging, new centerboards
With shiny new colors, the Fives - Lantana Environnement IMOVA has been put to waters in Caen on May 4th. Louis and his team managed to tackle two projects of optimization and recycling this winter:
- Salvage François Gabart's old mast (with which he won the Vendée Globe 2012)
- Place tilted centerboards (from Manuel Cousin's centerboard case molds)
The sails have been retrimmed to adapt to this new rigging. The boart has been transformed and optimized to host these new features.
