Sustainable and safe industrial combustion at IFRF Conference

Fives will present its reheating combustion technology at the International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF) Conference, which will take place on June 17-19, 2025 in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Energy-efficient combustion systems

The conference, returning in person for the first time since 2018, will bring together energy and combustion specialists from around the world to discuss best practices for sustainable and safe industrial combustion. More about the IFRF Conference.

Optimum combustion control

Fives is at the forefront of developing energy-efficient combustion systems to decarbonize the steel industry.

Sébastien Caillat, R&D Combustion Chief Expert at Fives Stein, a Fives’ subsidiary specialized in thermal technology, will present two papers that highlight recent advancements in hydrogen-compatible burners:

  • “New lateral burner for 0 to 100 % hydrogen flexibility in steel reheating furnaces” on June 17, 2025 at 11:00

  • “New roof burner for 0 to 100 % hydrogen flexibility in reheating furnaces” on June 18, 2025 at 09:45

In collaboration with RWTH Aachen University, Fives will also hold a special half-day session focusing on major European projects such as TWINGHY*. This consortium brings together leading European companies and research institutes to develop a new AdvanTek® burner capable of injecting a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas or 100% hydrogen.
