Posti gains greater flexibility with Fives’ scalable AMR sorting solution
Fives has successfully delivered a new automated sorting system for Posti, Finland’s leading postal and logistics service provider. Equipped with Fives’ GENI-Ant autonomous mobile robot sorters, the system delivers scalable throughput to meet customer needs.
It was installed in an existing facility, in the Seinäjoki logistics center, replacing a sorting system that was no longer suited to Posti’s operational needs. The new AMR-based solution makes efficient use of the available footprint while providing greater flexibility to adapt the sorting configuration as operational requirements evolve.
The solution is particularly well suited to Posti’s operations, accommodating a high number of destinations within the available space at the Seinäjoki facility.
The AMR configuration enables the system to efficiently meet these requirements within the existing footprint, while providing a modular setup that can be expanded progressively as needs evolve.
A solution that evolves with Posti’s operations
Scalability was one of the key factors behind Posti’s investment. The system can be expanded as volumes grow, supporting higher productivity without requiring a complete redesign of the sorting solution.
In the future, the AMR-based architecture will also allow the system to be reconfigured or even relocated as Posti’s site and operational requirements change.
Posti selected Fives based on the proven performance of its sorting technology and its established market position. The project also represents an important milestone for Fives: it is the company’s first installation for Posti and its first AMR sorting system delivered in the Nordic countries.
Installation completed without interrupting operations
The project was implemented in two phases to align with Posti’s operational structure. The first phase went live in March 2026, while the second phase was completed and brought online in July.
The installation and commissioning activities were carried out while Posti’s production remained operational. Completing the project in two phases allowed the new system to be progressively brought online without interrupting the site’s activities.
“Working within an operational facility required careful planning and coordination throughout the project. The two-phase approach enabled us to carry out the installation and commissioning while maintaining Posti’s ongoing operations, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system,” explains Simone Bosetti, Sales Manager at Fives Intralogistics.
