Fives partners with PostNord to build the most powerful sorting solution in Sweden
PostNord is set to open the most powerful parcel terminal in Sweden, a decisive step as the company prepares for sustained parcel growth and rising expectations for fast, reliable and sustainable delivery services. Designed as a high-capacity hub with extensive process automation provided by Fives, the Stigamo facility will enhance speed, flexibility, and productivity across PostNord’s operations, while supporting the company’s ambition to operate a fully fossil-free fleet by 2030.
Fives and PostNord: a collaboration built on technical expertise
PostNord has selected Fives not only for its capacity to design and implement largescale, high throughput sorting systems, but also for the longstanding relationship established over decades of collaboration. Since 1989, Fives has supported PostNord with the installation of more than ten sorting systems, building a foundation of trust, technical reliability and constant project delivery. This heritage, combined with the collaborative approach demonstrated throughout the design phase of the Stigamo project, played a key role in the company’s decision.

Advanced automation supporting the most powerful terminal in Sweden
Fives will equip the terminal with a fully integrated sorting solution designed to deliver the highest throughput level in the country. The system combines two GENI BeltTM sorters totaling 1.4 km and four GENI HiveTM singulators engineered to manage continuous, high volume parcel flows. With a peak capacity of 25,000 items per hour, ten induction lines and nearly 1,000 destinations, the hub will play a key role in optimizing national parcel distribution.
The solution, which incorporates the latest generation of Fives technology, will be installed in an eco-designed building that includes provisions for solar energy and EV charging infrastructure.

With this project PostNord will move forward with the largest infrastructure development for parcels in its history: a new, next generation parcel terminal to be built in Stigamo, Jönköping County. Scheduled to open in 2027, the facility will become a cornerstone of PostNord’s long-term strategy to reinforce its national network and support the continued acceleration of Sweden’s e-commerce sector.
