Successful completion of a multi-site survey & diagnostic mission in Asia
Fives FCB successfully completed a comprehensive equipment survey and diagnostic mission across three sugar factories in the Philippines. This new mission of supporting our clients as a trusted long-term partner in optimizing their equipment, demonstrates once again our commitment in guaranteeing reliable, efficient and sustainable operations for our customers.

A complete assessment of sugar process equipment
The mission covered a wide range of equipment, some of which have been in service for several decades, including Cail & Fletcher Continuous Vacuum Pans, Cooling Vertical Crystallizers, massecuite reheaters, and multiple massecuite and magma SUMO™ pumps. The engineering team evaluated the condition, performance and improvement potential of each asset. This involved:
- Assessment of mechanical status of the equipment
- Review of the main control loops instrumentation & automation systems
- Brix measurement adjustment vs. laboratory results
- Diagnosis of critical components
- Identification of performance gaps & root causes
- Operational adjustments to restore design performance
- Condition-based maintenance recommendations

A holistic approach to improve plant-wide efficiency
Throughout the mission, the team's focus extended beyond equipment health, working also on the upstream and downstream processes. This systemic approach allowed the identification of root causes behind performance deviations, leading to targeted optimization recommendations that directly enhance crystal quality, vacuum efficiency, heat transfer and operational stability.
By considering the entire production chain, with a comprehensive perspective, Fives helps its customers consolidate long‑term performance improvements rather than isolated corrective actions.
Clear operational, maintenance and process recommendations
At the end of the mission, the team delivered a detailed technical report that compiled diagnostic results, maintenance and operational recommendations, and clear actions to support continuous improvement. These insights give the customer a clear and structured roadmap to strengthen reliability, maximize equipment performance, increase throughput, and reduce unplanned downtime.
