Room4Steel to promote technological developments

Fives has joined a project organized by SIDEREX (Spanish Association of Steelworks Exporters) and the Bilbao School of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country to open a classroom “Future of Steel”.

The new classroom Room4Steel aims to train students interested to work in the steel industry – a key sector of the Basque Country, as well as to promote research and innovation activities.

The official presentation of the Room4Steel took place on March 16, 2021 in presence of SIDEREX, steel companies and equipment providers - Sidenor, Aceros Inoxidables Olarra, Grupo Tubos Reunidos, ArcelorMittal, Grupo Tubacex, Sarralle, Idom and Fives Steel Spain, a subsidiary of Fives - who are eager to promote industrial projects, scientific researches and technological developments to young generations.

The Room4Steel will serve as a meeting point to hold courses, seminars and specialized training sessions with teachers and experts from the steel sector. It will also be used to develop experimental and research works, and complete postgraduate programs dedicated to the steel industry. “Our main objective is to develop talents, improve student skills and help them incorporate in the labor market," said Aitor San Millán, Director of SIDEREX.
