Partnership event to promote the training and employment of young people in industry

This event is an opportunity to share our news and challenges in terms of training and recruitment, particularly in connection with the prospects for activity in the nuclear sector in France.

Fives Nordon thus wishes to strengthen cooperation between representatives of the professional sector and training organizations preparing for trades in boilermaking, piping and welding.

MAJOR AMBITIONS TO RECRUIT AND MODERNIZE THE PRODUCTION SITE BY 2025

To meet the industrial challenges of the future, particularly in the nuclear sector with the maintenance of the French nuclear base for EDF (Grand Carénage) and the ambitious EPR2 construction program, Fives Nordon is investing in two key areas:

  • The recruitment of more than 300 people on permanent contracts (pipe fitters, boilermakers, welders, research office engineers) with the aim of reaching 1,200 employees in 2025. Special attention will be paid to the recruitment of more women in technical positions, as well as work-study students.
  • Carrying out studies to modernize and double the capacity of its production site in Nancy, in line with the project to accelerate the EPR2 construction program.

TRAINING, A DRIVER TO MEET THE NEED FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE NUCLEAR SECTOR

Fives Nordon invests heavily in training to strengthen specific skills and support new hires. Since training adapted to technical specificities is becoming increasingly rare and there is a shortage of qualified profiles, especially pipe fitters and welders, Fives Nordon has created its Training Academy. The “Académie Fives Nordon,” certified by Qualiopi, offers a wide range of excellent training courses in Fives’ areas of expertise in industrial piping.

In partnership with the UIMM Lorraine training center, Fives Nordon has also created the “Pass Nucléaire” in response to the “Developing nuclear sector skills” call for projects, which is part of EDF’s Excell Plan and the Grand Carénage program. The aim of the “Pass Nucléaire” is to strengthen existing training facilities and meet the sector’s skill requirements, in particular by creating a new specific training offer.

Fives Nordon is also present in the fuel cycle through its subsidiary Fives Nordon ACPP, which specializes in spent fuel pools.

“New challenges will have to be met in the coming years, in particular to support our main customer, EDF, to maintain the French nuclear base and to prepare for the EPR2 program. The outlook for nuclear activities gives us great visibility for the next fifty years."
