More than 800 young people from all over France competed in Marseille, France, from October 16 to 18 in the WorldSkills France 2025 finals. Among them, Mounir and Raphaël, both automation apprentices at Fives Machining, took the top spot on the podium.

WorldSkills France is a movement dedicated to young people and skilled trades that organizes trade competitions to showcase the excellence and passion of young people with one goal in mind: to bring together those who are committed to highlighting the beauty of technical and technological trades.

After three days of intense competition at the finals of the WorldSkills France 2025 national skills competition, Mounir Ghouati and Raphaël Tissot, automation apprentices at Fives Machining, won the gold medal in the Industry 4.0 category. A well-deserved reward that highlights their technical skills, commitment, creativity, and team spirit.

Throughout their journey, they benefited from the experience and guidance of Jacques Poncet, Pre-Project Engineer and Expert in Electrical & Automation Services at Fives Machining.

This victory highlights the technologies shaping the future of industry—automation, digital tools, and robotics—and illustrates Fives' commitment embodied by our raison d'être: Industry can do it.

Currently completing their Engineering studies at ISTP Ingénieurs – École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, Raphaël and Mounir are continuing their three-year work-study program at Fives Machining. Their first-place finish in this competition paves the way for them to join the French national skills team, where they will proudly represent Fives and French industry at upcoming European and international competitions.

Congratulations to both of them for their dedication and passion, and to everyone at Fives Machining who supports them in their daily learning journey!

I’m truly grateful to have been part of this unforgettable experience, and I had an intense and enriching week both personally and technically.

This gold medal reflects all the hard work, dedication, and team spirit we poured into this adventure. It also shows our ability to adapt to extremely tight time constraints—we were selected just a month and a half before the competition began!

A huge thank-you to my teammate Raphaël for his energy, commitment, and the great collaboration throughout the competition!

Thanks also to Fives Machining for this incredible experience and for the trust they’ve placed in me by allowing me to continue my work-study program over the next three years at engineering school. I’m excited to keep this journey going and to learn even more alongside their teams!”, Mounir Ghouati

“Winning this gold medal makes me immensely proud!

To me, it symbolizes that anything is possible when you give it your all. Even with a difficult start, success is within reach if you put your best into it.

Mounir and I built a strong partnership by combining our different experiences, adapting, learning together, and dividing up the tasks.

A big thank-you to him for his positive energy and support during the challenging preparation phase—especially with wiring and sensor configuration.

This victory, which fills us with pride, is also thanks to the tremendous support we received from Fives. It will remain a wonderful memory for me, and I’m thrilled to share this success within the Fives Machining team!”, Raphaël Tissot
