Fives wins new contract for Cryomec® pumps in Saudi Arabia
For this structuring project for the region, four Cryomec® cryogenic pumps will be manufactured in Allschwill, Switzerland before being delivered and installed in the complex’s air separation unit (ASU).
The complex, which is under construction, also includes a steam methane reformer, and hydrogen pressure swing adsorption units. It has the ambition of becoming the number one hub for industrial gas pipelines in the area, connecting and transporting industrial gases to the broad pool of local refineries and chemical plants.
Fives’ Cryomec® centrifugal pumps have been chosen for their optimal ASU and transfer applications. Indeed, two continuous duty Cryomec® LABS will be used for LIN (liquid nitrogen) application while two Cryomec® DGS will be used as truck loading pumps to transfer LOX (liquid oxygen) from storage to the trailers.
This upcoming installation is expected to be up and running in 2023.
This project marks a new collaboration between Fives and the large Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) company managing it, both organizations having already worked together in various countries and more recently in Ukraine and in India.
