Back2School 2020: another successful edition!

On the 8 of December 2020, 175 participants from 11 different countries gathered on a virtual platform over 3 days to improve their knowledge and competences on Fives’ equipment for aluminium production.

In the current global health situation, our Back2School 2020 Training Program was turned into a on-line event, and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) was the exclusive Sponsor.

More than 175 people were registered, coming from 11 countries: EGA from United Arab Emirates, Alba from Bahrain, Aldel from The Netherlands, Alvance British Aluminium from Scotland, AoG from Greece, Egyptalum from Egypt, Hindalco from India, Hydro from Norway, Qatalum from Qatar, Sohar Aluminium from Oman and Ma'aden Aluminium from Saudi Arabia.

From to 8 to 10 December, three classroom training rooms were organized simultaneously on-line:

  • ECL Reduction Equipment - PTM Mechanical with 1 trainer
  • ECL Reduction Equipment - PTM Electrical with 3 trainers
  • Solios Equipment including Green Anode Plant, Gas Treatment Center (FTC) and Firing & Control System (FCS) with 6 trainers.

Sébastien Gauguier, CEO of the Aluminium Division, introduced the Opening Session, followed by speeches from two EGA Representatives: Iman Abdulghafoor Al-Qasim, Executive Vice President Human Capital and Sergey Akhmetov Executive Vice President Midstream.

At the Closing Session, EGA Research and Development Manager, ALBA Reduction Director, Sohar Aluminium Process &Technology Manager and Ma’aden Aluminium Reduction Operation Manager acknowledged Fives for hosting such a high quality event.

This success relies on the 10 technical experts from Fives Solios and Fives ECL and on the moderators who played a key role in connecting the trainer with the participants by examining the questions live.

This training answered a real need for many participants, who recognized the skills and technical knowledge of Fives’ experts, and the amount of questions asked during the training sessions shows a high interest in the topics presented. The organization, on-line, was a new and challenging experience for this kind of trainings but it met our expectations.

Thanks to our participants and to our Sponsor, EGA for their support.
