CHANGE FOR GOOD

Decarbonized melting

Glass is an energy intensive industry with high emissions - but it doesn't have to be this way. Our green technology can help change the way you manufacture.

You can reduce emissions with electric melting, obtain production flexibility with hybrid technology, and a more stable process with oxy-fuel combustion. Together, we can make our future greener.

CHANGE FOR GOOD

Our promise to get greener and act on CO2 emissions led to proven results. See our advanced technology in action:

ALL-ELECTRIC

Prium® E-Melt is one of the most advanced technologies available to significantly reduce CO2 emissions at the plant level.

The innovative melting technology was implemented at Verallia as the world's first and largest electric furnace for the glass packaging industry. The melters will have the capacity to produce 180 metric tonnes of glass per day with a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions.

HYBRID

Prium® Eco-Flex is a hybrid technology that primarily uses up to 80% electricity, with some power from combustion, offering reduced emissions and flexible production for all glass types.

Fives was entrusted to provide the first air-gas hybrid furnace to O-I's Veauche facility in France. The new furnace will be 70% electric fired. It will also drastically decrease CO2 emissions by 43%.

OXY-FUEL

Prium® Oxy-Melt is a low-energy furnace. When combined with L.E.M.® technology, it has a heat recovery system that enables the preheating of pure oxygen and natural gas.

The energy-efficient furnace was recently put into operation at Guardian Glass, one of the world's largest float glass manufacturers. Over time, the use of this new technology should reduce the furnace’s gas consumption by 25% and CO2 emissions by 20%.

BE PART OF OUR SOLUTION

In an interview with Glass International, Alexandre Brusset, Vice President of Glass at Fives, discusses environmental concerns of the industry along with decarbonized melting technology that ensure sustainable operation through constant innovation.
