FIVES COMMISSIONS AN exceptionally efficient GALVANIZING LINE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
Fives has launched a new galvanizing line for the Steel Dynamics plant in Columbus, United States, allowing them to diversify their product portfolio.
With a high level of flexibility and process performance, the line produces different types of coated steels for the construction, appliances and automotive markets, a new opportunity for the plant.
The new continuous galvanizing line has a capacity of 360,000 tonnes per year, and is able to process strips to a thickness of 4 mm and a width of 1,830 mm.
Fives supplied the complete line, from entry to exit coil handling, including degreasing, annealing and galvanizing sections and the skin-pass, as well as metallurgical assistance to obtain steel with different coating types.
The first coil was produced in 18 months, ahead of the contract schedule in the difficult context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
