To modernize the Saint Basile cement plant, Ciment Québec Inc. chose Fives to supply two new FCB Horomill® grinding plants to meet its QUALITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGES, notably by producing cements with low clinker content and a small carbon footprint.
Ciment Québec Inc. was persuaded by a visit to facilities in the United States and Mexico, as well as tests conducted at the FIVES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER DEDICATED TO CEMENT AND MINERALS: the pilot facilities obtained excellent results compared to industrial tests using traditional technology.
Luc Papillon, Chairman & CEO of Ciment Québec Inc.
“Following a thorough technical review of different technologies currently available for cement grinding, we chose FCB Horomill®. We are confident that it is the solution best adapted to our varied range of cements and our ambition to reduce our environmental footprint.”
FCB Horomill® grinding technology offers unique performance in terms of energy efficiency, flexibility, lack of water consumption and quality of the finished product. It operates in full automatic mode and with continuous data processing for ongoing facility optimization.
It helps significantly reduce CO2 emissions linked to cement production, thanks to its low energy consumption and reduced clinker levels in the cement.
It also integrates perfectly into the existing system, as it is compact and generates low noise and vibration levels.
With over 60 units in operation, including around 20 in America, FCB Horomill® meets production and environmental requirements at over 30 companies worldwide.
