Optimizing production costs and the associated carbon emissions
To reduce its carbon consumption and thus contribute to more ecological aluminium production, ONE OF THE WORLD’S BIGGEST ALUMINIUM PRODUCERS SELECTED FIVES DIGITAL SOLUTIONS to digitally track its anodes throughout their life cycle.
SOFIA and MIREA are part of the Amelios suite, a digital solution to help aluminium producers to OPTIMIZE THEIR PRODUCTION COSTS AND ASSOCIATED CARBON EMISSIONS. The Amelios suite was selected by the Solar Impulse foundation as one of the solutions to combat climate change by optimizing CO2 emissions per ton of aluminium produced.
Fives offers unrivaled expertise in technologies linked to the anode life cycle: an anode production workshop, an anode sealing workshop and anode baking furnace firing control system.
- MIREA, an advanced sensor that continually measures the electrical resistivity of baked anodes, offering reliable characterization for 100% of the anodes produced based on collected data, and no longer on visual criteria.
- SOFIA, a 3D measurement machine for on-the-fly anode butt inspection using fixed laser scanners to virtually measure their geometry and reflectivity. By compiling information, the system feeds back information on the anode’s behavior in the electrolysis tank.
Thanks to this data, the customer is able to improve performance of the electrolytic aluminium production process.
