The entire Fives Group – Lantana Environnement team is back at the V1D2 site, with a nice job-list of an eclectic crowd of details to settle!
Louis: "Obviously, during my few days of delivery back to Caen, I identified new things to improve. These are details, but they can become very important during a world tour.
I could leave tomorrow to do the Vendée Globe with the boat as it is today, but there would be a lot of little things that would hinder performance and comfort: we can improve all that."
We will navigate useful
The next two weeks will therefore be devoted to this ant work before leaving for a week at sea.
There, the program will be about the same as on land, but in “test mode”: “I have listed a thousand things to test and validate: all the emergency systems, the emergency pilot, the emergency cylinder, the video device… We will navigate useful, do technique, go into detail. And it’s important to navigate often, to put oneself in a situation so as not to lock oneself into the shipyard.”
Save some time
These 3 weeks of technical work will perhaps lighten the load on the project planned for this summer… even if the preparation of the racing boats is never really finished.
"If we can, we will try to advance the launch at the end of August to sail a little before the Azimuth Challenge."
But all this is still far away… For now, there is a job-list to check!
A respectuous and circular sporting event
The Fives IMOCA is an "upcycled" boat. Thanks to Louis, it lives a 2nd life!
Louis and his team gave a new life to a very damaged IMOCA because of a fire. This refurbishment undertaking was a real technical challenge... that succeeded in only 10 months!
Louis and his team continue to apply this upcycling principle and optimization research with a constant effort on sobriety throughout this Vendée Globe program.
Louis is also very keen on respecting everyone's work and giving a chance.
