Solios Thermal and Fives North American Combustion visited by MP and MEP in the UK

Members of the British and the European parliament have recently visited two companies of the Fives group.
On Friday, 1st March, MP for South Staffordshire, Gavin Williamson visited both Solios Thermal and Fives North American, which are located in Wombourne. He toured the offices meeting everyone, taking an interest in the activity of each company and asking questions to employees.

Gavin Williamson said that “it is businesses such as these that are responsible for South Staffordshire’s growing reputation as a manufacturing hub”. He added that he “was delighted to take this opportunity to find out more about the Fives Group, its 200 year heritage and its exciting plans for the future.”

On Friday, 8th March, Anthea McIntyre, the MEP for the West Midlands constituency, in turn visited Solios Thermal.
Very approachable and friendly, she asked numerous questions about the business, markets and challenges. Anthea McIntyre was delighted to meet everyone and to witness the enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment that contribute to the success of the company.

She also congratulated Solios Thermal on being runner-up in the “Environmental Efficiency Award” category in the Midlands Regional heat of the Engineering Employers Federation’s (EEF) Future Manufacturing Awards 2012. Last November, Solios Thermal received a “Green and Growth award” for Genios, its new electromagnetic stirring and metal transfer system. Earlier in the year, the internal Fives Innovation Awards rewarded this technology by awarding Graham Guest with the Fives Solios Brand Award.

Fives 200-year anniversary books have been handed to both Gavin Williamson and Anthea McIntyre.
