Fives Michelin Additive Solutions presents AddUp, its global metal additive manufacturing solution, and its new machine FormUp™ 350

Fives Michelin Additive Solutions will be attending Formnext 2016, the top exhibition for new production technologies, from November 15 to18, 2016 in Frankfurt (booth J70 Hall 3.1).

During the event, the company - a joint venture launched by Fives and Michelin in April 2016 - will present its global 3D metal printing industrial solutions under the AddUp brand.

A complete 3D metal printing offer

With AddUp, Fives Michelin Additive Solutions offers global industrial solutions in metal 3D printing, from the design and supply of machines and associated services and consulting, through parts manufacturing:

  • design and manufacture of machines, and their integration into a complete production factory
  • metal parts manufacturing on demand
  • service activity, including re-design of parts, expertise in the manufacturing process and services associated with supporting the operating machine.

Mr. Bruno Bernard, CEO of Fives Michelin Additive Solutions, underlines that “AddUp stands out because we provide personalized support to industrial businesses in order to find the optimum technical and economic solution. Furthermore, we pay particular and unprecedented attention to operator safety and respect for the environment during the industrial use of powders and metal additive manufacturing machines.”

AddUp: industrial, scalable solutions adapted to the needs of each manufacturer, presented at the booth

At booth J70 Hall 3.1, FormNext visitors can learn about four aspects of the AddUp offer:

  • The FormUp™ 350 machine

This flexible and modular industrial additive manufacturing machine used for mass production of parts and prototypes is based on laser melting technology on a metal powder bed. It offers rapid, reliable and precise production of metal parts, directly from CAD data.

  • AddUp Manager™ 2016 software

This user-friendly software solution allows you to import 3D files and provides a link with the print driver in each machine for the additive manufacture of metal parts.

  • A model from the AddUp Flex Care System™ unit

This controlled-atmosphere, scalable, compact and portable solution aims to protect operators and surrounding buildings from the risks linked to the industrial use of powders and metal additive manufacturing machines.

  • Parts manufacturing using the additive technology

In addition to its machine offer, AddUp offers expert support in the implementation of an industrial metal additive manufacturing solution with the best technical and economic option, from the feasibility study to the industrialization and qualification of the parts.

This offer is aimed at serving the aerospace, automotive and medical sectors, but also other industrial sectors which could benefit from the various assets of metal additive manufacturing in terms of productivity, part quality, flexible production and lead time.

A joint venture combining the expertise of two major industry players

Launched in April 2016, Fives Michelin Additive Solutions combines the skills and experience of Fives and Michelin to develop a reliable industrial offer in the field of metal additive manufacturing: AddUp.

Fives provides its skill, experience and capacity for innovation in mechanical engineering, automation and control of industrial processes to create completely digitized machines and systems meeting technology requirements in additive manufacturing, but also the reliability and reproduction constraints of controlled industrial production. Fives provides its Global Services network to AddUp clients.

Over many years, Michelin has developed unique expertise in metal additive manufacturing to produce mold parts at an industrial scale which cannot be produced using traditional production methods (machining, welding...) with a production capacity of 650,000 parts/year. This technology allows it to develop and market truck and car tires with unrivaled performance in a very short turnaround time.

Mr. Bruno Bernard, CEO of Fives Michelin Additive Solutions, will present the AddUp offer during a press conference Wednesday November 16, 2016 at 10:45 am - Salon Formnext - Hall 3, Ebene Via, Foyer Ost Raum Kontrast
