Cement | Minerals: Installation of a new Research and Testing Center in France
Fives recently sets up its new Research and Testing Center in the industrial area of Seclin (France).
These facilities are dedicated to the cement and minerals grinding industries and include physical and chemical laboratories, appropriated means for measuring, analyzing and testing. Pilot installations allow to operate industrial equipment such as grinding mills, dryers, classifiers on a small-scale, even if they can reach outputs up to ten tons per hour.
The Fives Research and Testing Center will contribute to the research and development of new equipment and processes, mainly related to saving energy and raw materials and reducing emissions. Fives’s division's major proprietary equipment includes the FCB Horomill® grinding mill, the FCB TSV™ classifier, the FCB Rhodax® crusher and the FCB Zero-NOx precalciner. The Research and Testing Center will also carry out feasibility studies and design testing on pilot installations as well as characterising the behaviour of raw materials, to assist in designing new factories and production divisions.
With 27 Research and Testing Centers worldwide and € 28.1 million spent on R&D, Fives aims to develop best-in-class proprietary technologies in terms of energy and environmental performance. The Engineered Sustainability® brand, the Fives’ eco-design program, recognizes equipment with high environmental performance.
