Bryant and Giustina grinding technologies for the bearing industry
Fives has won two major orders from a world leading bearing manufacturer.
The first is for the design and supply of a Bryant RU2 machine, to grind double row tapered roller bearings. Utilizing the unique slide arrangement of the RU2, this customer was able to remove a full machine from their manufacturing line. The flexibility of the machine allows them to grind a large range of part families with the same machine, thus slowly ramping up production of this new offering without committing additional capital for a large grinding line. The machine was shipped in March 2021 and will be installed at the customer’s site in the US.
The second is for a Giustina XL-VSD2500 machine, which will be grinding large bearings to address wind energy expansion in China. This order comes after a successful expansion project in 2019, in which a Giustina XL-VSD2000 was sold and installed, further substantiating a win-win partnership with our customer.
Grinding | Ultra Precision teams are evaluating to develop this technology for bigger parts due to the demand larger part dimensions.
