Solios Thermal has just received the Completion Certificate for Genios, the latest generation of Electromagnetic Stirring and Casting system, installed early 2011 in Italy.
As a reminder, in November 2010, Solios Thermal signed a Joint Development Agreement with the Italian Company VCM (Vedani Carlo Metalli) to implement Genios, with aims to:
- transfer metal from their static furnace to a continuous casting machine,
- stir the furnace bath,
VCM ‘s main objective was to improve the current plant production performance and reduce its maintenance costs.
The Genios technology has now demonstrated its capacity to stir and cast, all in one single unit installed directly on the furnace side wall. The customer is satisfied with this new system which leads both to a better uniformity of metal temperature in the furnace after stirring and a very good metal transfer rate, and enables maintenance savings.
This is the first industrial installation of Genios which represents a key milestone to further develop this technology.
