Drastic NOx reduction with Heavy Fuel Oil firing at SOCOS Orléans, France 

In 2007, SOCOS - a DALKIA subsidiary in Orléans, France - entrusted Fives Pillard to replace their 4 former GRC Heavy fuel oil (HFO) burners for which the NOx emissions were not in compliance with the new French Regulation applicable from January 1st 2008.

The challenge for Fives Pillard was to reduce NOx emissions from 750 to less than 450 mg/Nm3 @ 3%O2 dry basis, without using SNCR (urea injection), SCR or reducing the boiler’s nominal heat release.
