ENIP finally preferred to invest into a global retrofitting including :
putting in conformity all detectors and actuators,
using fail-safe certified PLC,
replacing the existing burners by better performing ones, in automatic operation.
Safety was a prioritary goal (the accident of Skikda in January 2004 which made a lot of casualties and deads had been kept in all minds). This is why the new project has been including double safety shut-off valves on all fuels as well as a detection of first defect, and the replacement of all equipment of uncertain reliability.
