Increasing boiler efficiency by adding an economiser and using a "CO2 saver" system 

In 2009, VELIDIS (a COFELY subsidiary located in Velizy- France , 92) asked Fives-Pillard to establish a quotation for replacing two PILLARD GTV Gas Burners (15MW each) fitted to a 15.84 Phyterm water tube boiler (26,7 MW) and to increase the

efficiency of its Boiler.

The challenge for Fives-Pillard was to reduce NOx emissions by around 76 % (from 350 to 80 mg/Nm3@3%O2dry) without using an external FGR device, in order to meet NOx emissions of about 90mg/Nm3@3%O2dry so as to anticipate a future

change in French Regulations.

For increasing boiler efficiency, the client asked Fives-Pillard to set up an exchanger to recover the flue gas thermal heat and to use it to pre heat Combustion Air with low temperature water (less than 105°C).
