Fives Cinetic has successfully achieved the commissioning of an order picking automated system for the pharmaceutical company Brystol-Myers-Squibb, better known as UPSA.
The facility, located close to Agen, in the south-west of France, distributes UPSA products to wholesalers in 70 % of the French market, as well as dispatchers, hospitals and pharmacies.
The computerized system can prepare detailed parcels, based on the “pick and pack” concept and completed parcels with “pick to belt” with a daily capacity of 8000 items.
The project took about 6 months to put into place with an optimized working phase in order to not disturb the facility’s activities. The installation was therefore wholly made on site, whereas it had been planned to rent an adjoining warehouse.
