Fives Cinetic has been selected by United Airlines to design, engineer, install and commission United's automated systems at the air cargo facility located at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
The new facility features a mail sort and unit load device (ULD) handling system.
The 3,000 piece per hour mail sort system is designed by Fives Cinetic (Louisville, Kentucky - USA) and will utilize its LPS singulator to feed the product single-file to a downstream six-sided scan tunnel prior to induction onto its TRISORT SDX shoe-sorter. The sorter will discharge items to one of 68 slide positions around the sorter loop.
The ULD handling equipment is integrated by Fives Cinetic and supplied by Murata Machinery USA (Charlotte, North Carolina - USA) and includes powered roller decks at airside and truck docks landside.
Both LPS Singulator and TRISORT SDX shoe sorter technologies were designed and developed by Fives Cinetic.
Commissioning will take place from December 2011 with customer handover by January 2012.
