There is increasing market demand for high throughput sortation systems and highly flexible sorters with lower environmental impact and reduced operating costs.
True to its track record, Fives Cinetic has anticipated market needs and today is proud to present a new version of its SBIR cross belt sorter incorporating a new, patented solution.
This new solution implemented within the SBIR cross belt family brings huge improvements to customer operations in terms of energy efficiency, in terms of the availability and reliability of the sorters and in terms of throughput.
The latest SBIR sorters are equipped with a new concept of power distribution, based on the use of on-board generating wheels and highly efficient driving units with brushless motors. The two solutions combined deliver energy efficiency an amazing 30% higher than any other solution currently available on the market, thereby setting a new industry benchmark.
With the SBIR 2X, Fives Cinetic is also now able to deliver a completely fail-safe sorter, eliminating practically all need for emergency maintenance and optimizing system reliability and availability. To achieve this, all subsystems, including the drive system, power distribution and the control system, are designed with parallel redundant components.
Last, but not least, the sorter's throughput capacity has also been increased. In 1998 the “widthwise” loading method brought the market a significant 30% capacity increase in flat and parcel sortation. Today another breakthrough has been made thanks to the SBIR 2X: each cell can transport and sort two items to their respective destinations, essentially doubling the basic capacity of the sorter.
This innovative new sorting solution will be unveiled at Post Expo2011 in Stuttgart, Germany in Hall 1 - stand 3040.
