Giustina RB for the processing of large connecting rods
The Cinetic Giustina grinder model RB 1 is the machine for the processing of large conn rods with plunge working method and it is suitable in particular for the “stepped” type machining, where the big end thickness is different from the pin end one.
This grinding method can be applied on various components and allow to realize large thickness steps. The continuous control of main working parameters allows to obtain the requested quality and tolerances. Its guarding, completely sealed, can guarantee a better and easier fumes suction, no leakage and higher safety during the process, together with a lower noise level.

The grinder is equipped with a sliding guide driven by a linear motor or by a motor/ball screw system.
The connecting rod is loaded onto the sliding guide through an automatic gantry or robot and it’s then moved to the machining position under the wheel.
A mechanical safety device checks the good positioning of the connecting rod before machining start.
The wheel starts its plunge operation in two steps, for the pin end and for the big end separately (obtaining therefore different thickness results, if necessary).
After the measurement of the obtained size, the sliding guide returns to its initial position where the conn rod is automatically tilted through the gantry or load/unload robot.
Then the second grinding cycle starts on the opposite side. A gauge controls the sizes in order to compensate wheel wear and manage dressing intervals and values.
