The Skeldon sugar modernization project aims at, through the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GUYSUCO) investing in a new sugar factory with a capacity of 8,400 tonnes cane per day in Skeldon.
This sugar factory is located close to West bank of the Corentyne River forming border between Guyana & Surinam.
The new factory at Skeldon will be the most modern factory in the Caribbean. The use of diffusion technology in place of conventional milling is a novelty for Guyana. Requiring reduced power, diffusion technology is particularly suited to co-generation.
Guyana Sugar Corporation chose Fives Cail for keys technologies parts for the Sugar factory with co-generation facility.
