Richard toll is a cane sugar factory located in North Senegal near Saint Louis, an area in which the whole cane fields are irrigated. The company called "Compagnie Sucrière Sénégalaise" (CSS) is the second largest employer in Senegal and is owned by the Mimran group.
Fives Cail has been working with Richard Toll since its first important expansion up to 5.000 TCD in the early 1980s. At this time, a back end refinery of 450 tons per day was also installed. Thanks to this successful collaboration, the factory has been producing an excellent quality refined sugar that everyone in the country is proud of and uses daily.
The new targets of higher production and improvement of the factory energy balance will be accompanied by the drastic reduction of use of Diesel generators for irrigation pumps, thereby reducing their carbon footprint.
This approach is made possible thanks to the significant energy savings achieved by the installation of a MillMax® tandem by Fives Cail.
