GARDEL is a cane sugar factory located in Guadeloupe, in the Caribbean. GARDEL optimise the natural energy potential of bagasse by practicing cogeneration with the CTM (Centrale Thermique du Moule). The CTM was created in 1998 and its the first central power station in the Caribbean.
In 2006, GARDEL sugar factory with confidence invested in Fives Cail technology with the new mill generation, the MillMax® in order to increase the factory capacity and reduce the energy consumption. The MillMax® supplied and installed in the first and last position in the mill in a tandem were in line with expansion strategy.
The main objectives defined for this factory:
- Increase the factory capacity from 5700 tcd up to 6700 tcd.
- Refurbish the mill tandem and reduce the energy consumption.
- Bagasse moisture strictly < 50%.
