Early 2011, Fives Stein won two new contracts in the Chinese fast-growing tin-plate market for supplying vertical Digital Furnaces for 2 new tin-plate continuous annealing lines. After having successfully put into operation in association with Fives DMS the fastest tin-plate continuous annealing lines in China with a record process speed of 800 mpm for 2 plants in Baosteel in Yichang and Meishan, Fives Stein’s vertical furnace technology sets a high standard benchmark in the tin-plate annealing lines worldwide.
The first of the new contracts is for a vertical annealing furnace of 440 000 tons per year capacity and operating at a high process speed of 750 mpm to be installed at Shougang Jintang, an existing key account Customer of Fives Stein. Shougang group is already operating 2 continuous annealing lines for sheets and 2 continuous galvanizing lines equipped with Fives Stein’s vertical furnace technologies. This new order is the recognition by this Customer of their entire satisfaction with the high quality of production and the outstanding performances of the vertical Digital Furnace.
The second order is received from Hon Win Steel Co., part of Jiangsu Sunshine private Group, for the supply of a vertical annealing furnace of 325 000 tons per year capacity to be installed in their plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. For this vertical annealing furnace, the complete design, engineering and supply of furnace equipment will be done by Fives Stein, including the manufacturing and supply of the local portion of the furnace which will be handled in China by Fives Stein Shanghai and Fives Engineering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
This is a new opportunity for Fives Stein to show its capabilities of designing and supplying production units with the most optimized mix of imported and local scopes with the aim to operate close to its customers and secure the required high quality standard technologies.
