Oxy-combustion is one of the proven melting technologies improving the thermal efficiency of furnaces while reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxides. In view of the ever increasing gas prices, this technology is becoming more and more competitive.
Fives Stein has gained major references in this field:
In 2001, conversion of a recuperator bottle furnace to oxy-combustion with a melting capacity of 360t/day at Verrerie du Languedoc.
In 2005, conversion of the 2 regenerator furnaces for borosilicate glass to oxy-combustion at Newell. The melting capacity of these furnaces is respectively 110 and 160t/day.
Fives Stein has developed the technology of its oxy-combustion furnaces by using
the most efficient burners and installing raw materials and cullet preheating to optimise their energy efficiency.
