In January 2004, Fives FCB signed a contract with the Lafarge Group for the turnkey supply and installation of a complete Greenfield cement plant, with a clinker production capacity of 1,500 tpd, at Tula (State of Hidalgo), about 70 km north of Mexico City.
Equipped with Fives FCB technologies, the plant produced its first clinker in January 2006, and has been operating at full capacity since mid-February 2006 - 4 months ahead of the contractual schedule. |

Construction and commissioning of this cement plant have been a real success in terms of efficiency, safety and industrial performance.
The plant has beaten all the Group’s previous records for safety. According to data supplied by the group, the number of industrial accidents was 11 times lower than the Mexican national average in the construction sector. The Tula plant thus received the “Grand Safety Prize” from Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social to reward these results. |
With an annual production capacity of 600,000 tpy of grey cement, this cement plant has enabled the Lafarge Group to double its production capacity in Mexico to keep pace with the growth of the Mexican economy.
