Amongst all products, some materials are brittle and more sensitive to strip breakage. The idea of maximising the roll gap accessibility, especially useful in case of strip breakage, has led Fives DMS to design the 20 Hi Twin housing mill which combines the advantages of the monobloc 20 Hi mill with those of the 4 High mill.
Moreover the Fives DMS’ Twin housing design permits to vary the work roll diameters within a large range. The mill is therefore able to roll large strip gauge ranges economically, without requiring the diameter of the work and intermediate rolls to be co-ordinated to another and material having a large spectrum of mechanical properties.
