Fives FCB is chosen to build a turnkey 3,500 tpd cement plant in Mexico for Holcim Apasco

At the beginning of this year, the contract signed at the end of 2007 between Fives FCB and Holcim Apasco for the construction of a turnkey greenfield cement plant with a capacity of 3,500 tonnes a day, in Mexico, came into effect. This plant is due to be commissioned in early 2010.

This contract further strengthens Fives FCB's status as an essential partner for major cement manufacturers. It follows the supply, in recent years, of:

the new 3,000 tpd production line for the Holcim cement plant in Costa Rica,

a turnkey cement plant in Mexico,

two other new production lines including a 5,000 tpd facility in Qatar.

This contract also consolidates Fives FCB's position in Central America where, in addition to the projects already mentioned, it has also supplied two Horomill® grinding mills in Mexico and a Twin Horomill® in Panama, and has built a cement production line in Honduras.

The new plant will feature all the latest technologies developed by Fives FCB, aimed at reducing the facility's energy consumption and NOx emissions. Furthermore, the use of Horomill® grinding mills for clinker grinding is a huge advantage in the desert region where the cement plant is to be constructed as they do not require any water injection.
