Fives Solios, a major player in the Qatalum project in Qatar. Qatalum, a Joint Venture between the Norwegian firm Hydro Aluminium AS and the state-owned company Qatar Petroleum will build the most productive aluminium smelter in the world with the aim of minimising its environmental footprint. Located in the Messaieed industrial area in Qatar, the first phase of the plant will provide a capacity of 585,000 tpy of aluminium with two 352-pot lines. To ensure the success of this project, Qatalum opted for the electrolytic reduction technology developed by Hydro Aluminium and entrusted Fives Solios with several turnkey contracts.
